Palacio close to Barca dream move

Filed Under Argentina Soccer News, National Team |

Only hours after Boca Juniors exit from the Copa Libertadores the club president Pedro Pompilio has confirmed that Barcelona are preparing a bid to take the Argentina Soccer striker Rodrigo Palacio to the Camp Nou.

The Boca attacker has been talking to the Barcelona officials over wage demands and to see if he’s prepared for a move to La Liga.

Barcelona have been linked with right attacking full back Dani Alves and French striking sensation Karim Benzema but Lyons insistence on their young star staying may make the Catalonians look elsewhere.

“I know, from his agent and his father, that Barcelona made an approach for him. The clubs, in general, when they target a really big player want to know first if he is keen and then how much money he wants. The offer is made,” Pompilio said.

“There have been no offers for players made to Boca and, for now we have not put a price on Palacio.”

Although any possible wage demands may now be known to Barcelona they are still yet to of sorted a transfer fee and Pompilio denied that Palacio could leave on the cheap.

“We know that he is a player that has no substitute and that there is nobody to compare with him in the world market,” he continued.

“Boca will respect his decision, but if we allow him to leave then it will be for a very high figure.”
